About the position

Rock Valley College is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member for the Computer Information Systems (CIS) program. The adjunct instructor will be responsible for creating the class syllabus and planning class content, utilizing RVC's Learning Management System (EAGLE). This position requires teaching courses required in CIS degree programs and maintaining accurate course records while submitting related reports as requested. The instructor will also be responsible for assessing student performance and creating a safe and inclusive learning environment for students. Additionally, the role involves utilizing multiple strategies to facilitate learning, incorporating new technologies and methods that enhance teaching and learning, and supporting the Department and College through other work normally expected of adjunct faculty members. Maintaining office hours convenient for students and instructing students in the proper use of lab equipment where appropriate are also essential functions of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Incorporate new technologies and methods that enhance teaching and learning into instructional methods
  • Support the Department and College through other work normally expected of adjunct faculty members
  • Maintain office hours convenient for students
  • Instruct students in the proper use of lab equipment where appropriate

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in CIS or a closely related field or closely related business experience
  • Successful teaching experience at a Community College preferred but not required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 2019 including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with common information technology terminology and concepts including basic concepts of hardware, software, networking, web design and cybersecurity
