About the position

The Computer Network Engineer at Peraton is a subject matter expert responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting network architecture in an enterprise-level environment. This role involves leading the development of the HHS OIG network, including cloud architecture and integration of advanced technologies such as AI and SASE. The engineer will work closely with project managers and other engineering staff to ensure the network meets security and operational standards while supporting key business objectives.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop solutions to complex applications problems and systems administration issues.
• Design and implement computer and information networks such as LAN, WAN, intranets, and extranets.
• Perform network modeling, analysis, and planning.
• Design network security measures.
• Provide technical leadership in support of project managers by establishing goals and contributing to plans and schedules.
• Interact with clients, including technical negotiation of plans and communication of technical approaches to senior leadership.

Requirements

• 12 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree; 8 years with a Master's; or 16 years with a High School diploma.
• Expertise in designing and standardizing network architectures and configurations.
• Strong experience in managing enterprise networks including data centers and WAN/LAN.
• Experience in designing IT solutions within NIST guidelines and FISMA compliance.
• Ability to identify and resolve complex network issues promptly.
• Experience configuring routers, switches, security devices, and IPv6.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in IT or a related field.
• Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert (CCIE) Certification.
• Strong understanding of cloud and infrastructure components for end-to-end solutions.
