SimIS, Inc. seeks a Computer Network Support Specialist I to support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in their configuration and change management (CCM) process. This role is crucial for maintaining the integrity of hardware, software, firmware, and documentation necessary for the successful transition and management of the Unattended Ground Systems (UGS) Program across five Border Sectors. The specialist will provide configuration management (CM) to transition these UGS systems to the CBP Firewall infrastructure, ensuring compliance with FISMA Authority to Operate (ATO) activities. The work will primarily be performed onsite at Ashburn, VA, with occasional travel to Springfield, VA. The Computer Network Support Specialist I will be responsible for analyzing, testing, troubleshooting, and evaluating existing network systems, including local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and Internet systems. This position requires a proactive approach to network maintenance to ensure that networks operate correctly with minimal interruption. Specific tasks include writing network policies, configuring antivirus programs, managing content filtering systems, interpreting network data, collecting data on network performance, and ensuring the network's efficiency and security. The specialist will also be responsible for installing or removing software and hardware and adjusting security permissions as necessary.
