About the position

The Computer Operator - Data Center Technician role at IBM involves managing and maintaining data center operations, including the installation and configuration of servers and networking equipment. The position requires troubleshooting hardware issues and ensuring quality assurance of server hardware, contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of IBM's cloud services.

Responsibilities

• Rack, build, cable, configure, and provision Intel and AMD servers
• Rack, cable, and deploy Cisco Layer 2 networking equipment
• Troubleshoot, test, and perform quality assurance of server hardware
• Professionally resolve hardware issues via trouble ticket

Requirements

• Operating System Installation experience with Windows Server, Linux, Unix
• Moderate knowledge of PC hardware concepts and component installation
• Basic knowledge of various internet-related services and software (mail, web, DNS, etc.)
• General understanding of computer networking concepts
• Customer-focused attitude with some previous customer service experience
• Network wiring/cabling experience
• Must be able to work in this country without company sponsorship
• Must be fluent in English
• Must be willing to learn quickly, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Windows and Linux Platforms
• Experience with computer/server hardware
• Certifications are not required but a plus
