About the position

The position involves activating, monitoring, and controlling job distribution and resource allocation for special processing requirements within the Taxpayer Services Division of the IRS. Responsibilities

• Activate, monitor, and control job distribution and resource allocation for special processing requirements.
• Link internal operating systems with application programs and peripheral equipment.
• Monitor systems status and performance, responding to system messages.
• Define, isolate, and resolve common equipment and operating problems.
• Assist in developing new or revised operating procedures.
• Run and monitor test programs to identify potential problems.
• Correct or adjust priorities and workflow by reconfiguring equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• One year of general experience at a level equivalent to GS-3 in the Federal service, or two years of education above high school, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• For GS-5: One year of specialized experience at a level equivalent to GS-4, including experience with operating functions related to peripheral computer components.
• For GS-6: One year of specialized experience at a level equivalent to GS-5, including experience with multiprocessing/multiprogramming computer systems.
• For GS-7: One year of specialized experience at a level equivalent to GS-6, including experience with job control languages and developing operating procedures.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in programming, systems analysis, or production control.
• Knowledge of computer terminology and media flow.
