About the position

The Computer Programming/Networking Technology Instructor position is campus-based, serving the academic needs of the assigned campus(es). Instructors are responsible for teaching assigned classes according to the overall goals and objectives of the department. Additional responsibilities include maintaining appropriate office hours for class preparation and student advisement, participating in departmental, college, and campus committee work, and submitting necessary paperwork for student attendance and evaluation. All employees must commit to the Caring Campus approach to student engagement, actively listening to student questions and concerns with a positive attitude and making meaningful connections with students.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a standard load of 15 to 17 semester hours in Information Systems Technology courses.
  • Plan lessons to include Assessment Prep courses.
  • Recruit, retain, and place students.
  • Work with advisory committee and college staff to maintain a quality program.
  • Provide a learning environment that supports student success.
  • Implement effective learning strategies and deliver high-quality instruction.
  • Participate in developing and implementing campus and department policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Maintain current credentials as required in respective field.
  • Use teaching techniques that motivate students to achieve their potential.
  • Provide necessary information about and for students, including syllabi and attendance/grade reports.
  • Set aside sufficient time for student conferences, guidance, and tutorial assistance.
  • Attend general faculty, division, and departmental meetings.
  • Participate in evaluations and performance review conferences.
  • Develop personal and professional improvement plans.
  • Participate in staff development activities and professional associations.
  • Serve on committees as appointed.
  • Participate in the selection of textbook and library materials.
  • Follow institutional processes for recording student attendance.
  • Participate in the establishment, assessment, and review of Student Learning Outcomes.

Requirements

  • Associate of Applied Sciences (A.A.S)/Associate of Arts (A.A.) or undergraduate/graduate degree in Computer Networking, Computer Programming, or similar field.
  • CompTIA A+ IT Technician or Microsoft Technology Associate Networking Certification.
  • Minimum of two years of related work or teaching experience.
  • Three years of teaching/work experience in the field assigned.

  • Knowledge of contemporary and innovative methods of instructional delivery and curriculum development.
