The Computer Programming Specialist III at Geeks and Nerds (GaN) serves as a subject matter expert, providing technical guidance and working independently on complex projects. This role involves writing code, developing software programs, and conducting functional and empirical analysis related to software systems. The position emphasizes creativity and innovation, contributing to the development of solutions that positively impact the community and nation.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and information to meet project requirements.
• Work independently on complex projects and assignments with minimal guidance.
• Write code to create, alter, or design software programs.
• Convert project specifications and statements into detailed logical flow charts for coding.
• Develop and write computer programs to store, locate, and retrieve specific documents and data.
• Program websites as needed.
• Conduct functional and empirical analysis related to software design and development.
• Participate in the development of test strategies, devices, and systems.

Requirements

• Six or more years of experience in business or manufacturing applications, data communications, systems software, and database design and operations.
• Knowledge in one or more programming languages such as C, C++, Java, J2EE, HTML, CGI, Perl, JavaScript, CSS, ASP, or SQL.
• Expert-level skills with web publishing and graphics software like Dreamweaver, FrontPage, Photoshop, WEBTrends, FTP, and Visio.
• Ability to design, implement, and maintain databases using various software applications.
• Working knowledge of SAS programming, including data step processing, SAS/Macro, PROC SQL, and SAS/Graph.
• Familiarity with IBM/MVS, UNIX, MS-DOS, Windows, LAN, and Microsoft Office.
