About the position

The Computer Scientist position in the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) department involves working with a dynamic team to design, develop, and manage GIS applications. The role focuses on utilizing computer science principles and AI techniques to enhance geospatial processes and ensure effective implementation of spatial database systems. The position also includes providing technical support for users with varying skill levels and managing workflows for data management and distribution.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and manage GIS applications to ensure effective implementation.
  • Utilize AI techniques to enhance and automate geospatial processes.
  • Establish and automate workflows for data creation, management, and distribution.
  • Maintain data quality and implement security controls in line with industry standards.
  • Provide technical support in programming, machine learning, and GIS to users with diverse skill levels.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field with specific coursework in mathematics and statistics.
  • At least one year of specialized experience comparable to the GS-07 level in the Federal service, or equivalent experience in the private sector.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, C#, or Swift.
  • Familiarity with relational database management systems.
