About the position

The Computer Scientist position at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) involves collaborating with a team of research software engineers to provide front-end development support for various engineering laboratory research projects. Responsibilities

• Develop software tools using team-standard languages and frameworks, including Python, Java, MATLAB, R, and HTML/CSS.
• Collaborate with project managers to manage tasks and contribute technical insights.
• Write user-focused documentation and implement testing processes for software tools.
• Engage with stakeholders to gather and define technical requirements.
• Work with APIs and SQL databases to support data-driven applications.
• Collaborate closely with other team members to ensure seamless software development and integration.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or a combination of education and experience as specified in the job description.
• One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in software engineering, or a Master's degree, or a combination of specialized experience and graduate-level education.
