About the position

The Computer Systems Architect position at NSA is designed for experienced computer science professionals who will tackle complex problems and innovate solutions for information storage, manipulation, and presentation. The role involves applying computer science expertise to develop new standards and technologies that enhance national security interests. Candidates will work within a team of experts to create cutting-edge innovations in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Drive information technology projects using commercial and government-developed hardware, software, networking, and security products.
  • Produce compliance results for established project requirements and IT architecture.
  • Modernize IT architecture through analysis and introduction of changes based on evolving project requirements.
  • Integrate industry trends, emerging technologies, and new vendor features into existing systems.
  • Collaborate with technical and application teams to identify, evaluate, and recommend technical solutions to support project requirements.
  • Define and analyze data requirements, mapping legacy data stores and formats to logical and physical data models.
  • Propose standard methods for information transport between IT systems and storage within corporate knowledge databases.
  • Perform architectural alignment of the enterprise logical data model and physical data models.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants.
  • Experience in system administration with Windows, UNIX, and/or Linux.
  • Programming and scripting experience in languages such as C, C++, Java, Assembly, Python, Perl, Ruby, Bash, Node.js, Spark, Puppet, SALT, KAFKA, HADOOP.
  • Experience in database design and development, particularly with tools like NiFi and MongoDB.
  • Knowledge of network protocols and hardware.
  • Understanding of virtualization fundamentals and cloud architecture.
  • Familiarity with security architectures and appliances, including firewalls and boundary device solutions.
