About the position

The Computer Systems Manager Level 2 at the City University of New York (CUNY) is responsible for managing and directing an Information Technology area at a college level. This role involves setting policies and procedures, directing technical staff, and overseeing both administrative and technical issues within the assigned area. The position requires collaboration with various departments to assess data and business automation needs, as well as the design and maintenance of web applications and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain web applications and websites using various languages, tools, and frameworks.
  • Create and implement user interfaces, navigation menus, and content for web pages.
  • Create and modify CUNYfirst PeopleSoft queries.
  • Create scripts to automate data downloads and uploads to external systems.
  • Provide support to end users regarding queries and data.
  • Build and optimize secure web pages for evolving business needs.
  • Code front end user interfaces using ASP.NET, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Work with the Web Manager to manage projects and create web applications.
  • Collaborate with various college departments to assess their data and business automation needs.
  • Perform routine site audits and troubleshoot web pages for security and responsiveness.

Requirements

  • Six years of progressively responsible full-time paid information systems technology experience, with at least eighteen months in an administrative or managerial capacity.
  • A master's degree in computer science or a closely related field may substitute for one year of experience.
  • Experience in monitoring IT budgets, reviewing and approving IT procurement and contracts, and overseeing vendor relationship management.
  • Experience in strategic planning, policy implementation, and project scope definition.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology with a background in Database development or Application Development.
  • Familiarity with SQL and understanding of network diagnostics and analytical tools.
  • Knowledge of current trends in information technology and application development best practices.
  • Professional experience using PeopleSoft, Blackboard, SharePoint, and Web Content Management Systems.
  • Experience in business process modeling, requirements analysis, and process improvement.
