About the position

The Computer Systems & Network Engineer position at Amentum involves providing engineering support services to the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) in the Cyber Security & Information Assurance (CSIA) Support Services office. The role focuses on analyzing organizational business needs, developing IT systems, planning network configurations, and ensuring network integrity while working closely with government project leads.

Responsibilities

• Analyze organizational business needs in terms of information technology systems requirements.
• Develop information technology systems that provide required capabilities for projected workloads.
• Plan layout and installation of new systems or modifications of existing systems.
• Evaluate factors such as departmental needs, reporting formats, transaction volumes, and security requirements to determine hardware configurations.
• Recommend hardware and software purchases to enhance system capabilities and efficiency.
• Monitor and troubleshoot network issues, installing and upgrading network equipment and software as necessary.
• Create and maintain documentation related to network configuration and performance.
• Establish and document network technical support processes and procedures.
• Act as a technical liaison between clients, customers, and vendors to resolve issues.
• Perform research, design, development, testing, evaluation, and maintenance of computer hardware and software systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related scientific discipline.
• 1-10+ years of experience in computer systems and network engineering.
• Active TOP SECRET US Government Clearance required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and intranets.
• Familiarity with network asset management and documentation processes.
• Knowledge of network performance monitoring and testing.
