The Reality Labs (RL) organization at Meta is at the forefront of developing world-class Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR) products, aiming to connect people globally through innovative technologies. The XR-Tech organization within RL focuses on cutting-edge research and development of machine perception technologies, transitioning from early concepts to production levels across all of Meta's AR/VR products, including Oculus products, Meta Glasses, and the Family of Apps (Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp). This role involves researching and applying a variety of software, computer vision, and machine learning techniques to solve challenges that bridge the virtual and real worlds, impacting billions of users. The position addresses technical challenges in real-time image processing, SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping), 3D scene reconstruction, machine perception, visualization, and tooling. Collaboration with researchers from Reality Labs Research (RL-R) and Facebook AI Research (FAIR) is also a key aspect of this role. As a Computer Vision Engineer in Reality Labs, you will be responsible for designing and developing novel computer vision and machine learning algorithms in areas such as large-scale mapping, reconstruction, scene understanding, real-time scene and object tracking, semantic segmentation, depth sensing, and generative approaches like GANs. You will develop prototypes for future VR/AR/MR experiences, drive continued development, and integrate robust solutions into products. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional engineering and research teams from RL and FAIR, participate in cutting-edge research applicable to AR/VR product development, and define projects for other engineers to solve, achieving significant impact based on your direction.
