About the position

Evans & Chambers Technology is seeking a highly motivated Computer Vision Engineer to join our team! In this role, you will partner with the US national defense community to create fully integrated, resilient, and innovative digital solutions that enable them to make smart decisions in real-time. Your work will involve everything from conquering data to improving and safeguarding IT infrastructure, with the ultimate goal of enhancing our nation's ability to identify, address, and act on challenges as they arise. As a Computer Vision Engineer, you will be responsible for building algorithmic techniques for extracting digital and updatable 2D mechanical drawings, implementing mechanisms for updating these drawings based on changes from technical variance data. This will enable our customers to confirm the viability of machine learning for their specific use cases. You will also develop the initial computer vision model based on customer requirements and historical data, utilizing Amazon SageMaker and other AI/ML services. Collaboration with customer subject matter experts will be essential in developing metrics to measure the success of the models you create. Additionally, you will identify and confirm the initial datasets required for model development, including PDF drawings and variance data, and potentially incorporate computer-aided design (CAD) files as they become available. Your role will also involve creating a non-production environment to facilitate machine learning and research and development for mechanical drawing parametric digitization in AWS GovCloud, utilizing services such as Amazon SageMaker and Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3).

Responsibilities

  • Build algorithmic techniques for extracting digital and updatable 2D mechanical drawings with mechanisms for updating the drawings with changes from technical variance data.
  • Develop Customer's initial computer vision model based on Customer stated requirements, historical data, and knowledge gathered during discovery utilizing Amazon SageMaker and other mutually agreed upon AI/ML Services.
  • Develop Customer metrics, involving collaboration with Customer subject matter experts, designed to enable Customer to measure success models developed.
  • Identify and confirm Customer's initial datasets required for developing the computer vision model, including PDF drawings and variance data and potentially incorporating computer-aided design (CAD) files as available.
  • Develop a non-production environment designed to enable ML and R&D for mechanical drawing parametric digitization in AWS GovCloud using Services such as Amazon SageMaker and Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3).

Requirements

  • A Doctorate Degree in Statistics, Applied Math, Operations Research, Economics, or a related quantitative field with 2+ years professional experience, or a MS degree and 4+ years of professional experience, or a BS degree with 8+ years of experience.
  • 6+ years professional experience with scientific programming languages like Python or R.
  • 6+ years of professional experience in data science.
  • 4+ years of industry or post-doctorate or academic applied research experience in one or more areas in Computer Vision, Deep Learning, Sensing systems or related fields.
  • Coding skills in one or more programming languages such as Python, Scala, Java, C, C++.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience applying and adapting ML techniques to unique domains and 'unusual' imagery data types.
  • Experience leveraging and augmenting large code base and computer vision/machine libraries/toolkits to deliver new solutions.
  • Familiarity developing and deploying solutions on AWS; experience with AWS ML services such as SageMaker is considered a plus.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tooling such as AWS CloudFormation and/or AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK).
