About the position

The Computer Vision Research Engineer will join the 3D Vision team at Apple Maps, focusing on developing innovative methods and algorithms for creating accurate and hyper-realistic 3D experiences on a global scale. This role involves working with large datasets collected from various moving platforms and requires a strong curiosity for solving real-world problems in computer vision and machine learning.

Responsibilities

  • Research and develop novel methods within differentiable rendering, generative models, and other areas of computer vision and machine learning.
  • Work with large datasets from aerial, satellite, and ground platforms to create 3D experiences.
  • Collaborate with a team of computer vision and machine learning experts to tackle complex problems.
  • Implement and optimize algorithms for real-world applications.

Requirements

  • Strong background in Computer Vision and Machine Learning.
  • Significant experience in researching and developing innovative approaches within Computer Vision and Machine Learning.
  • Solid programming skills, particularly in Python.
  • Some experience with C/C++.

Nice-to-haves

  • Published papers in top-tier CV/ML conferences (CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, ICLR, Siggraph, etc.).
  • Solid experience with deep learning frameworks and infrastructure.
  • Experience with modern differentiable rendering methods, such as NeRF and Gaussian Splatting.
  • Experience with diffusion models or similar techniques.
  • Knowledge of computer graphics fundamentals.
  • Some experience with GPU/graphics languages, such as CUDA, OpenGL, or Metal.
