About the position

The CV Systems group at Qualcomm is at the forefront of developing cutting-edge visual analytics solutions and intellectual property for Qualcomm's Snapdragon platforms, which are utilized across mobile, automotive, VR/AR, and IoT applications. This role involves a comprehensive approach to algorithm and architecture design, focusing on video analytics, computer vision, and machine learning, with a strong emphasis on optimizing power and performance. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with team members to research and develop a wide array of computer vision algorithms, including but not limited to object detection, motion analysis, depth estimation, and 3D reconstruction, all while ensuring efficiency in performance and power consumption. In addition to algorithm development, the role requires defining the systems architecture for computer vision solutions. This includes outlining data flow, task partitioning, user interface design, and systems interoperation. The candidate will also be responsible for designing and implementing simulators for computer vision functions, which will be essential for algorithm evaluation, hardware verification, and customer training. Furthermore, the position involves optimizing computer vision algorithms for DSP or NSP, defining methodologies for performance and power analysis, and innovating technologies aimed at reducing memory bandwidth, processing latency, and overall power consumption. Collaboration is key in this role, as the candidate will work alongside various teams to commercialize technologies and provide robust customer support, ensuring the delivery of exceptional visual analytics experiences. Responsibilities

  • Research and develop a broad range of computer vision algorithms including object detection, motion analysis, depth estimation, and 3D reconstruction with performance and power efficiency.
  • Define systems architecture for computer vision solutions including data flow, task partition, user interface, and systems interoperation.
  • Design and implement simulators for computer vision functions to be used for algorithm evaluation, hardware verification, and customer training.
  • Work on DSP or NSP optimization of computer vision algorithms.
  • Define methodology for performance and power analysis and develop innovative technologies to reduce memory bandwidth, processing latency, and power consumption.
  • Collaborate with other teams to commercialize the technologies and provide strong customer support to enable the best visual analytics experiences.

Requirements

  • Experience with computer vision and machine learning.
  • Experience with OpenCV library.
  • Proficiency in C/C++.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills to develop new computer vision algorithms.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Work experience in feature detector and descriptors, motion analysis, and depth estimation is a plus.
  • DSP/Neon/GPU optimization and multi-thread programming is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience, OR a Master's degree in the same fields with 3+ years of experience, OR a PhD in the same fields with 2+ years of experience.
