About the position

Kelly Services is actively recruiting for a Computing Operations Specialist for a Long Term Contract opportunity Onsite in Midland, MI. The Information Research (IR) team provides leading-edge information technology (I/T) capabilities and information resources to meet strategic research and development (R&D) initiatives. The IR team delivers a combination of Information Technology, R&D experience, and physical science knowledge to develop capabilities and analysis that help deliver R&D growth and innovation commitments. Overall, IR is focused on making Dow R&D the best at using information technology and informatics for a competitive advantage. The individual in this role will be tasked with the daily operational support for IR's compute operations. They will oversee change management, act as a liaison with datacenter on-site operations, and ensure active incidents are tracked and resolved promptly. Collaboration with third-party vendors to facilitate repairs will also be a key responsibility. Additionally, when not engaged with changes and incidents, this role involves infrastructure-related tasks such as constructing virtual machines and updating documentation to maintain the efficiency and effectiveness of the operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage operational changes and incidents, ensuring minimal disruption and adherence to protocols.
  • Perform routine checks and backups to ensure system integrity and data protection.
  • Operate the monitoring facility to manage system alerts effectively, providing proactive support to minimize downtime.
  • Serve as the primary contact for operational incidents, coordinating resolution efforts.
  • Facilitate communication and operations between the organization and datacenter on-site operations.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors for timely repairs and maintenance.
  • Perform infrastructure tasks, including virtual machine construction and maintenance, during operational downtime.
  • Maintain up-to-date operational documentation, reflecting procedures and changes for compliance and reference.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux-based servers and applications.
  • Knowledge of basic TCP/IP networking and troubleshooting.
  • Proven experience in change management and incident resolution.
  • Ability to work on-site in Midland Michigan.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with datacenter on-site operations.
  • Ability to collaborate with third-party vendors for repair facilitation.
  • Experience in infrastructure-related tasks, such as building virtual machines.
  • Proficiency in maintaining up-to-date documentation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency with Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM).
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).
  • Expertise in managing and operating VMware vSphere environments.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure cloud services.
