About the position

The Biomedical Engineering department at the University of Arizona is seeking a Computer Sciences Researcher II to work under Dr. Nun-kuei Chen. This role focuses on conducting specialized research to identify neurological signatures related to cognitive aging using various data sources, including MRI and cognitive assessments. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing data processing pipelines, managing MRI data, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to enhance research outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct specialized research to identify neurological signatures of cognitive aging.
  • Create and implement MRI data processing pipelines using software such as Python, R, and Matlab.
  • Oversee MRI data harmonization software procedures and quality control protocols.
  • Manage the CAN data server for large-scale MRI studies, ensuring rigorous data processing.
  • Address challenges in MRI data processing creatively and effectively.
  • Collaborate with scientists to design software procedures for research questions.
  • Document data processing pipelines according to NIH standards.
  • Support the workflow of MRI data processing and contribute to publishing methods.
  • Assist in supervising student workers and analyzing MRI data.
  • Train entry-level staff on equipment usage and data analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning through professional experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience or equivalent education and experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with MRI data and analytics.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, C++, and Java.
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL queries.
