About the position

The Dual Language 4th Grade Teacher position at Concord International School is a full-time role focused on delivering a comprehensive educational experience in a Spanish Dual Language Immersion program. This position requires a strong commitment to fostering an effective learning environment that supports the academic and social development of students. The teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing an instructional program that meets the diverse needs of students, including those who may be at risk or have special needs. The role involves preparing lesson plans, utilizing appropriate instructional methods and materials, and continuously improving professional skills through ongoing training and development. In this position, the teacher will establish classroom policies and procedures that promote positive behavior and conduct among students. They will provide guidance and counseling to encourage students to meet academic and behavioral standards, and will maintain open communication with students, parents, and other staff members to support student achievement. The teacher will also evaluate and record student progress, prepare reports for parents, and collect data for administrative purposes. Participation in staff meetings and committees is expected to contribute to the overall objectives of the school and enhance professional growth. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of effective instructional techniques and behavior management strategies, as well as the ability to adapt to the needs of a culturally, racially, and economically diverse student population. This role requires a proactive approach to teaching, with a focus on creating a safe and engaging learning environment that encourages student participation and success.

Responsibilities

  • Foster an educational environment conducive to learning and maturation of assigned students.
  • Plan an instructional program designed to meet individual student needs and whole groups, including at-risk or special needs youth.
  • Prepare lesson plans and utilize appropriate instructional methods and materials.
  • Implement established program or curriculum objectives and attend in-service training for professional growth.
  • Establish and implement classroom policies and procedures governing student behavior and conduct.
  • Provide guidance, counseling, and discipline to encourage students to meet standards of achievement and conduct.
  • Confer with students, parents or guardians, and other staff to provide guidance and evaluation.
  • Establish classroom goals and objectives in accordance with State and School District guidelines.
  • Evaluate and record student progress and prepare reports for parents or guardians.
  • Collect and interpret data for administrative purposes and provide reports as needed.
  • Direct the activities of assigned non-certificated personnel.
  • Participate in required staff meetings and activities to accomplish position objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.
  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate.
  • Experience in teaching a culturally, racially, and economically diverse student population.
  • Ability to teach in both Spanish and English.
  • Knowledge of effective behavior management techniques and instructional strategies.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and oral communications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with bilingual students and assisting them in transitioning to regular classrooms.
  • Experience implementing programs designed to prevent dropout of at-risk students.
  • Experience teaching multi-level, open-concept, and mainstreamed classes.
