Concrete Carpenter

About the position

The Concrete Carpenter position at the City of Farmington involves performing routine street maintenance and concrete carpentry duties under the supervision of the Street Division Foreman. The role requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with colleagues and the public. The position is full-time, with a focus on concrete finishing and operating various construction equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine street maintenance and concrete carpentry duties.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, officials, and the public.
• Operate a motor vehicle for departmental tasks.
• Determine appropriate elevation, grades, and radii for form placement.
• Perform concrete finishing duties.
• Operate a variety of semi-skilled street construction equipment.
• Operate snow removal equipment.
• Assist in setting up and cleaning job sites, including traffic control devices.
• Clean weeds, trash, and debris from work sites.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent work experience in a closely related construction field.
• Valid New Mexico Driver's License with an acceptable driving record for the past three years.
• Comprehensive knowledge of concrete finishing.
• Experience in carpentry.
• Ability to perform math calculations.
• Experience operating jack-hammers, power saws, drills, and related equipment.
• One year of work experience in a construction-related field involving the operation of trucks or light automotive equipment, or equivalent vocational training courses.

Nice-to-haves

• Class B CDL preferred but not required.
• Willingness to be on 24-hour call.
