About the position

Donley's is offering a co-op opportunity for the 2025 semesters for students enrolled in Construction Management, Concrete Industry Management, or Civil Engineering. The role involves assisting the project team on construction projects, particularly in the concrete construction industry, while gaining hands-on experience and learning about project management and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting On Site Safety with data input and tracking of subcontractor weekly requirements.
  • Implementing and managing project safety in accordance with Donley's Safety Program.
  • Conducting safety audits by walking the job site and discussing safety improvements with field personnel.
  • Attending two safety training sessions per month, including toolbox talks and other safety meetings.
  • Interacting with co-workers to gather feedback on safety improvements for the project.
  • Assisting the Project Engineer with RFIs, ASIs, drawings consolidation, and closeout processes with subcontractors.
  • Filing daily tickets, work orders, and STAs, and entering concrete tickets/quantities into the concrete log.
  • Assisting the Superintendent with daily paperwork and quantity take-offs for bulletin pricing.
  • Reviewing specifications and developing a submittal log accordingly.
  • Working with field personnel to develop and issue RFIs as needed.
  • Updating the field trailer RFI binder as necessary.
  • Conducting daily safety inspections with field personnel.
  • Updating and maintaining Key Project Indicator information boards, including quality and schedule issues.
  • Gathering information from subcontractors for schedule updates.
  • Assisting in developing reports and/or processes as assigned.
  • Completing special tasks and assignments as needed.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Construction Management, Concrete Industry Management, or Civil Engineering.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to perform duties independently and with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and familiar with Expedition or similar programs, P3/P5.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least one semester of co-op experience with a self-performing concrete company or general contractor with a self-performing concrete division.
  • Strong willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks.
