  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety and operating rules and federal regulations.
  • Perform all duties required in connection with the operation of commuter trains.
  • Promote safe work practices and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Flag to provide a safe work zone for employees working on or near the railroad tracks.
  • Notify proper authorities and prepare reports for accidents, unscheduled stops, or delays.
  • Comply with train orders, signals, and radio communications to ensure safe operations.
  • Diagnose minor malfunctions and perform minor maintenance when maintenance personnel are unavailable.
  • Engage in regular training and promote Herzog's culture and essential behaviors.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Current certification as a Conductor is preferred.
  • Understanding of basic mathematics.
  • Ability to work a nonstandard workweek, overtime, and various shifts, including being on-call 7 days a week.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to judge speed and distances of objects/moving parts.
  • Ability to make logical choices and draw conclusions.
  • Complete annual training and pass safety operating rules examination.
  • Pass all required assessments.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and endorsements as required.
  • Experience in a safety-sensitive position.
  • Previous work in the railroad industry.
