About the position

The Conflict Data Analyst II position at Tuvli, an Akima company, involves supporting the Department of State (DoS) by developing analytical products and data visualizations for conflict analysis. The role requires collaboration with various teams to manage and curate content for the Instability Monitoring and Analysis Platform (IMAP) and to ensure that conflict analysis products are based on rigorous political science theories. The analyst will also engage with external communities and contribute to quality control of analytical outputs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop analytical products and interactive dashboards for priority CSO analysis.
  • Support the deployment and management of CSO's Instability Monitoring and Analysis Platform (IMAP).
  • Ensure conflict analysis products and IMAP content are up to date and based on rigorous political science theories.
  • Manage data streams for Advanced Analytics teams and maintain internal repositories.
  • Support the development of social media analytics tools for early warning and conflict prediction.
  • Implement the Advanced Analytics outreach plan, coordinating events and trainings.
  • Liaise with early warning and conflict prevention communities and interagency partners.
  • Contribute to internal analytical quality control through methodological reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as International Affairs, Public Administration, or Computer Science.
  • Two years' experience with data visualization tools like ArcGIS and Tableau.
  • Two years' experience with data management.
  • Familiarity with databases (SQL) and basic programming/scripting (Python, XML, JavaScript).
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in communicating insights from data to nontechnical audiences.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with social media analytics and its applications.
  • Preferred background in conflict analysis, international relations, or foreign policy.
  • Active Secret Clearance.
