About the position

The Conflicts Analyst plays a crucial role in the Office of the General Counsel Department by supporting the firm's risk management functions. This position involves analyzing information related to new business intake and conflict of interest reporting, ensuring compliance with acceptance protocols, and assisting in the conflict resolution process.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes information and interprets search results.
  • Conducts research via internal and external sources.
  • Composes conflict-of-interest reports.
  • Provides first-round review and analysis of new client/matter requests, determining compliance with new business acceptance protocols.
  • Provides first-round review of conflict search results, identifying potential conflict issues and providing reports to Conflict Counsel and/or requesting attorneys.
  • Supports the Office of the General Counsel, Conflict Counsel, and/or responsible attorneys engaged in the conflict resolution process.
  • Reviews complex search results as part of the conflict search and reporting process.
  • Performs searches of external and internal databases for pertinent information on prospective clients and other relevant parties.
  • Reviews contents of conflict reports and summarizes relevant data for discussion with Conflict Counsel and requesting attorneys.
  • Applies directives issued by managers, Conflict Counsel, and the Office of the General Counsel for processing new business matters and executing conflicts-of-interest searches.
  • Identifies parties involved in various types of legal transactions and defines relationships within the conflicts-of-interest system.
  • Determines when it is appropriate to escalate an issue to the Conflicts Counsel or the General Counsel's Office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience with conflicts-of-interest and new business intake or related risk management/loss prevention processes in a law firm environment required.
  • Knowledge of conflicts-of-interest and new business intake principles, including the ability to utilize and interpret data produced by research and workflow tools such as Conflicts Management, Intapp Open, Elite, and Elegrity.
