About The Position

The Conflicts Staff Attorney will play a crucial role in assisting with the review, identification, and resolution of potential conflicts issues across the Firm. This position is integral to ensuring that the Firm maintains its ethical standards and complies with the rules of professional responsibility. The attorney will report directly to the New Business Conflicts Staff Attorney Manager and will collaborate closely with various key stakeholders, including the Deputy General Counsel, Director of Conflicts/Legal, Director of Conflicts/Operations, and members of the Conflicts and New Business Team, as well as the Lateral Conflicts Team and Firm partners. This role is hybrid, allowing for flexibility in working from any of the Firm's U.S. offices. The responsibilities of the Conflicts Staff Attorney will vary depending on whether the focus is on clearing New Business or Lateral Hires, with some overlap in duties. The attorney will be expected to review and analyze conflicts reports for all new business, respond to informational requests, and address changes in current matters as they arise. A significant part of the role involves reviewing search results generated by Conflicts Analysts to identify potential conflicts of interest related to new business. The attorney will prepare comprehensive Conflicts Summaries for Firm lawyers, outlining the results of these analyses. In addition to these responsibilities, the Conflicts Staff Attorney will work closely with Firm lawyers and senior management to implement necessary screening requirements, obtain waivers, and respond to various conflicts inquiries. The role also includes performing analyses and reviews of new business forms, assisting with the new business intake process, and drafting engagement letters, waivers, and screens as needed. Participation in weekly meetings of the Conflicts Staff Attorneys is expected, along with assisting in the onboarding process for lateral hires. Staying current with laws and rules pertaining to conflicts of interest in each jurisdiction where the Firm operates is essential, as is maintaining accurate records for tracking the timely completion of all conflicts review projects. The attorney may also be assigned various special projects and duties as needed.
