About the position

The Consent & Privacy Advocate at Ford Motor Company is a pivotal role within the global Technology team, responsible for ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations and best practices. This position serves as a liaison between the Technology department and central Consent and Privacy organizations, advocating for privacy-by-design principles and providing technical expertise to various stakeholders. The role involves collaborating with internal teams to integrate consent and privacy considerations into technology solutions, monitoring evolving privacy regulations, and contributing to the development of global data governance frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Champion data privacy within the global Technology department by promoting best practices and providing guidance to development teams.
  • Provide technical expertise to central Consent and Privacy teams, translating complex privacy regulations into actionable guidance for technical teams.
  • Drive strategic vision and roadmaps to create alignment across different product groups for consistent implementations.
  • Partner with business customers to integrate consent and privacy into technology solutions, ensuring alignment with global privacy policies.
  • Collaborate with local teams on data privacy issues, reviewing code and conducting data privacy impact assessments (DPIAs).
  • Stay informed about evolving privacy regulations and industry standards, translating developments into actionable guidance for the Technology department.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of global data governance frameworks, defining data ownership and access controls.
  • Assist with incident response and breach notification, working with teams to investigate and mitigate potential harm.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., computer science, information technology, privacy) or a combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in data privacy and compliance, with a strong understanding of technical aspects.
  • Strong understanding of global data privacy regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant laws.
  • Experience with data privacy impact assessments (DPIAs) and data subject requests (DSRs) within a technical context.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating with diverse stakeholders across multiple regions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a global environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in data privacy (e.g., CIPP, CIPT).
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment with a global reach.
  • Experience with cloud computing and data security best practices.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
