About the position

The Consent & Privacy Advocate at Ford Motor Company will serve as a key liaison between the Technology department and central Consent and Privacy organizations. This role is essential in ensuring that technology solutions comply with privacy regulations and best practices globally. The advocate will champion data privacy, provide technical expertise, drive strategic vision, and collaborate with various teams to integrate consent and privacy into technology solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Champion data privacy within the global Technology department by promoting privacy-by-design principles and best practices.
  • Provide technical expertise to central Consent and Privacy teams, translating complex privacy regulations into actionable guidance.
  • Drive strategic vision and roadmaps to create alignment across different product groups.
  • Partner with business customers to integrate consent and privacy into technology solutions, ensuring alignment with global privacy policies.
  • Collaborate with local teams on data privacy issues, reviewing code and conducting data privacy impact assessments (DPIAs).
  • Stay informed about evolving privacy regulations and best practices, translating developments into actionable guidance.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of global data governance frameworks, defining data ownership and access controls.
  • Assist with incident response and breach notification, working with teams to mitigate potential harm.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., computer science, information technology, privacy) or a combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in data privacy and compliance, with a strong understanding of technical aspects.
  • Strong understanding of global data privacy regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant laws.
  • Experience with data privacy impact assessments (DPIAs) and data subject requests (DSRs) within a technical context.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating with diverse stakeholders across multiple regions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in data privacy (e.g., CIPP, CIPT).
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment with a global reach.
  • Experience with cloud computing and data security best practices.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
