About the position

The Conservation and Operations Coordinator (COC) at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) plays a vital role in supporting conservation efforts and operational activities within the Rhode Island Chapter. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about environmental conservation and are looking to contribute to meaningful projects that have a lasting impact on the community and the environment. The COC will be responsible for managing conservation data, developing project packages, and responding to inquiries from landowners. This role also involves producing maps using GIS software and maintaining both manual and digital project records. In addition to data management, the COC will perform various administrative functions, including scheduling and coordinating logistics for events and meetings, purchasing supplies, and managing facility operations. The successful candidate will utilize available systems and resources to maintain, track, and research data, as well as produce and review reports. The COC will apply established processes to enhance effectiveness and document program procedures for staff reference. This position requires coordination of activities with multiple variables, setting realistic deadlines, and managing timelines effectively. The COC will also handle inquiries about the Rhode Island Chapter's activities and work collaboratively with Conservancy staff to provide necessary information for decision-making and problem-solving. The work environment is primarily office-based, with a hybrid model allowing for remote work. The COC will be expected to work in the Providence office at least two days a week. The hourly pay for this position ranges from $30.21 to $32.96, translating to an annual salary of approximately $55,000 to $60,000 based on a 35-hour work week. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience handling standard business communications.
  • Ability to coordinate and complete tasks independently with multiple priorities and timelines.
  • Experience working and communicating with a wide range of people to plan and administer team meetings and activities.
  • Strong administrative skills with attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Multi-lingual and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
  • Database skills, including entering, managing, and tracking data, and producing reports.
  • Driver's license.
  • GIS experience.
