About the position

The Construction Accounting Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting the Senior Controller with the financial operations of construction projects. This position is crucial for ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards throughout the lifecycle of various projects. The manager will be responsible for collaborating in the month-end and year-end closing activities, which include crafting journal entries, conducting meticulous account reconciliations, and performing comprehensive variance analyses. This role requires a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of construction accounting principles to ensure that all financial operations align with industry standards. In addition to overseeing the reconciliation of project accountants, the Construction Accounting Manager will conduct in-depth cost analysis and financial evaluations aimed at optimizing project profitability. This involves working closely with project managers to assess financial performance and monitor project budgets, identifying and addressing variances in a timely manner. The manager will also coordinate with external auditors for project audits, ensuring compliance with all audit requirements. Staying attuned to the dynamic landscape of accounting regulations and industry benchmarks is essential, as is the ability to adapt to modifications as deemed necessary. The role also emphasizes the importance of maintaining compliance with internal controls while participating in the deployment of process enhancements to optimize operational efficiency. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Accounting, specifically in the construction industry.
  • Expertise in construction accounting principles, cost accounting, and project financial analysis.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and financial systems.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with project managers, executives, and external auditors.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to mentor Project Accountants as needed.
