About the position

Lynker Technologies is seeking a dynamic and experienced Facilities Maintenance Specialist to join our team as a Construction and Facilities Project Coordinator. This role is crucial for the ongoing growth and expansion of our operations in Kihei, HI. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing various site design and construction coordination tasks at the Kihei site and potentially at other locations. The position offers flexibility, allowing the individual to work either on a part-time or full-time basis, with an expected commitment of 30 to 40 hours per week. As a Facilities Maintenance Specialist, you will consult with and make recommendations to site leadership, including the Superintendent and Deputy Superintendent, on all matters related to site improvement design, planning, and construction. You will serve as the point of contact (POC) for all Maui site design and improvement work coordination with NOAA/ONMS, PIR, staff, and contractors, ensuring that all interior and exterior building and grounds work is executed efficiently. Your role will also involve planning and contracting activities with staff, partners, and contractors for multiple site improvements and investments. In addition, you will identify and recommend service contractors for repair and construction work, lead the identification, review, and negotiation of bids for proposals, and secure contractors for site improvements as directed by site leadership. Your responsibilities will include assessing areas that require work, advising site leadership on necessary changes to maintain a safe, resilient, well-maintained, and clean Kihei campus, and coordinating repairs in various trades such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical work. You will also be responsible for maintaining and updating all site maintenance plans, schedules, records, and documentation as requested.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with and make recommendations to site leadership on site improvement design, planning, and construction.

  • Serve as POC for all planning and contracting activities with staff, partners, and contractors for site improvements.
  • Identify and recommend service contractors for repair and construction work.
  • Lead the identification, review, and negotiation of bids for proposals and secure contractors for site improvements.
  • Advise site leadership on necessary changes to ensure the Kihei campus is safe, resilient, well-maintained, and clean.
  • Coordinate repairs such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical as required.
  • Maintain and update all site maintenance plans, schedules, records, and documentation.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in a field that supports facility project planning and management, or equivalent years of experience in Maintenance.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in facility project construction, project management, and facilities operations.
  • Experience in construction management in Hawaii and knowledge of government permitting and contractor requirements on Maui.
  • Experience in basic construction, carpentry, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and landscaping maintenance and repair.
  • Additional experience with repaving projects and/or landscaping is a plus.
  • Proven ability to assess facility problems and develop practical solutions.
  • Ability to convey technical information effectively to clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple large projects under tight timelines.
