About the position

The Construction and Maintenance Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Property Group team at Daniels Sharpsmart Inc., overseeing daily operations on construction sites and ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and regulations. This hands-on position requires effective communication with various stakeholders, including construction firms, site workers, project managers, and government municipalities, to facilitate the successful construction and maintenance of properties. The role involves managing projects that include new industrial buildings and renovations, with travel required across the USA.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the project schedule from pre-design to construction to project closeout, identifying areas for acceleration and understanding costs and timelines.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety standards on-site, reporting any concerns or violations immediately.
  • Document all specifics regarding projects from site selection and transaction management, compiling available information for each site.
  • Plan and manage the design and construction of new facilities and enhancements to existing buildings.
  • Visit actively owned/operated sites and potential sites as needed.
  • Create sketches to detail construction work that needs to be accomplished.
  • Inspect properties to determine necessary maintenance to meet code and desired standards.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of building codes and related regulations in plumbing, electrical, or mechanical fields.
  • Create a conceptual construction schedule using MS Project.
  • Prepare monthly reports to ensure all construction activities are understood and responsibilities are outlined with necessary actions and timelines for completion.
  • Provide weekly construction updates to the DPG team regarding relevant property activities and their status.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in the construction industry, including project management roles.
  • Skilled construction trade qualification in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or similar.
  • OSHA safety certifications.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, building codes, and legal regulations.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and delegate effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to manage staff and interact with various stakeholders.
