About the position

The Construction Assistant Project Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Project Manager in overseeing daily construction management activities. This position involves both office and on-site responsibilities, focusing on project scheduling, quality, safety, budget management, and client satisfaction. The Assistant Project Manager is accountable for ensuring compliance with project specifications and documentation, while also contributing to business development and client relations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with project reporting and documentation.
  • Prepare technical proposals, contract packages, budgets, and various project-specific documents.
  • Prepare Bi-Weekly Owner's Progress Meeting Project Status Reports.
  • Participate in weekly Trade/Subcontractor Coordination Meetings.
  • Ensure compliance of work with contract documents and project specifications.
  • Resolve scope of work disputes and track field time for change management.
  • Maintain knowledge of project status and answer related questions confidently.
  • Ensure assigned duties are completed accurately and in accordance with company policies.
  • Review and update work activity reports provided by the Superintendent.
  • Aid in business development and client relations by maintaining a clean and organized project site.
  • Review project budget and timeframe with the Project Manager.
  • Provide input on innovative approaches to meet company needs.
  • Understand client needs to achieve satisfactory outcomes.
  • Present standardization ideas to improve company efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide financial assistance as directed by the Project Manager.

Requirements

  • At least 2+ years' experience assisting with commercial construction projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Experience using Project Management software.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Material Submittal process, RFPs, and RFIs.
  • Prior knowledge of industry practices, processes, and standards, including building codes and OSHA requirements.
  • Experience in building relationships and collaborating within a team.
