About the position

As a Construction Control Representative, you will oversee the technical, financial, and business management aspects of designated design and construction projects within the Public Buildings Service. This role involves managing projects from initiation through planning, design, construction, and closeout phases, ensuring compliance with contract documents and addressing any deficiencies. You will represent the agency in managing construction contracts for public buildings and leased federal spaces, working closely with contractors and government representatives.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical manager with overall responsibility for designated projects from initiation to closeout.
  • Meet with contractors, manufacturers' representatives, and government agency representatives to establish construction requirements.
  • Determine project risk and assess activities and resources to mitigate risk.
  • Perform progress and final construction inspections to ensure compliance with contract documents and identify deficiencies.
  • Develop scopes of work for construction projects, including necessary design documents to communicate project intent.
  • Represent the agency in managing construction contracts for preservation, restoration, alteration, and rehabilitation of public buildings.

Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 level in the Federal service for GS-11 applicants.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service for GS-12 applicants.
  • Experience applying engineering methods and techniques related to building systems such as HVAC, electrical systems, and plumbing.
  • Experience in defining requirements with customers and developing construction cost estimates.
  • Experience in inspecting construction and administering construction contracts.
