About the position

The Construction Coordinator IV (CC IV) serves as a Project Coordinator within the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM). This role is primarily focused on managing the planning, design, and construction of new facilities and renovation projects for various Commonwealth Agencies. The CC IV is responsible for overseeing project management tasks including quality assurance, documentation, cost monitoring, and contract closeout, ensuring that projects meet established goals, budgets, and schedules while adhering to quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the planning, design, and construction of new facilities and renovation projects.
  • Oversee the full project team including Designers, Contractors, and User Agency clients.
  • Provide recommendations and feedback regarding design guidelines and construction standards.
  • Assist in developing contractual agreements for professional and technical services.
  • Lead meetings to define project scope, establish schedules, and create budgets.
  • Review designs and confer with designers to ensure User Agency interests are met.
  • Assemble bid packages and ensure compliance with public bidding processes.
  • Review bids and recommend contract awards to qualified candidates.
  • Facilitate communication among project team members to clarify roles and responsibilities.
  • Mediate and resolve disputes among parties involved in projects.
  • Review project budget estimates for accuracy and feasibility.
  • Monitor project schedules and ensure they are accurate and feasible.
  • Review and approve designer submissions for payment.
  • Handle designer performance issues to prevent impacts on project schedules and costs.
  • Utilize project management software to maintain accurate project records and prepare status reports.

Requirements

  • At least ten (10) years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in trades, construction, construction management, inspection, and/or alteration of building construction projects.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
  • A current and valid Motor Vehicle Driver's License at a Class level specific to assignment.
  • An Associate's degree or Technical degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of the required non-supervisory experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for four (4) years of the required non-supervisory experience.

  • Ability to work with considerable independence and autonomy.
  • Knowledge of terminology, symbols, codes, and standard abbreviations used in construction documents.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and procedures in facility construction projects.
  • Knowledge of inspection techniques used on facility construction projects.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports and understand applicable laws and regulations.
