About the position

The Construction Cost Analyst role at Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) is focused on delivering insights and analytics to enhance project performance in construction management. This position involves analyzing cost and schedule performance, developing reporting dashboards, and collaborating with various stakeholders to support strategic decision-making. The role is eligible for hybrid or remote work and requires relocation or residence within 50 miles of designated hub locations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely and insightful data for leadership reporting while offering valuable insights for strategic decision-making.
  • Conduct analysis of historical data, project costs, and resource allocation to support annual capital planning.
  • Develop, maintain, and advocate the use of interactive dashboards that provide real-time insights into construction project data.
  • Apply analytical techniques to conduct data analysis on diverse construction-related data.
  • Work collectively with partner teams within Project Controls and Construction to enhance data-driven decision-making and align efforts to drive improved project and portfolio performance.
  • Implement predictive analytics using historical data to predict and analyze future outcomes.
  • Manage substantial volumes of construction-related data and ensure data integrity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of related experience in a construction project management or project controls role.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate descriptive and predictive insights from data via analytic methods.
  • Advanced experience with Excel, SharePoint, Visio, Python, and Power BI.
  • Applied understanding of project controls principles combining cost and schedule impacts to projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Construction industry experience with a background in project controls functions managing complex, multi-group, multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Advanced ability to develop, update, and maintain reporting dashboards using Python and Power BI.
  • Team player, self-driven, and performs well in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills with a commitment to data-driven decision-making.
