About the position
AECOM is seeking multiple Construction Cost Estimating Specialists to support FEMA's Public Assistance Program. This fully remote role involves validating grant applications for disaster recovery projects, developing scopes of work, and preparing cost estimates using various estimating tools. The specialists will collaborate with multiple stakeholders and are expected to attend daily meetings and complete regular reports.
Responsibilities
- Validate Public Assistance (PA) grant applications for disaster recovery projects.
- Develop scope of work and cost estimates for projects.
- Prepare Requests for Information (RFI) when additional information is needed.
- Attend daily stand-up meetings and complete required reports.
- Use estimating tools such as RSMeans and Xactimate to prepare cost estimates.
- Utilize FEMA's Grants Manager system to track actions and collect project-related information.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree with no experience or AA/AS degree with 2 years of relevant experience in cost estimating.
- General knowledge in the design and/or construction of public infrastructure.
- High school diploma or GED with 4 years of relevant experience in cost estimating.
- US Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain DHS Public Trust.
Nice-to-haves
- 2+ years of relevant technical experience in public infrastructure design or construction.
- Experience providing excellent customer service and effective communication skills.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Earth.
- Experience with cost estimating software like Xactimate and RSMeans.
- Prior experience with FEMA PA and/or CRC.
