About the position

MakoRabco, a leader in the self-storage construction industry with over 50 years of combined experience, is seeking a Construction Drafter/Designer to join our dynamic team in Carlsbad, CA. This full-time position offers a competitive salary ranging from $55,000 to $85,000 per year, along with comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance. The Drafter will play a crucial role in providing accurate and detailed structural engineering drawings for various projects, ensuring that all designs align with company standards and meet project deadlines. The Drafter will be responsible for managing multiple tasks and priorities, particularly when project changes occur. This includes preparing drawings that are not only accurate but also economically viable. The role requires close collaboration with the Engineering Department, Detailers, and other stakeholders to communicate any changes and resolve drawing issues promptly. The Drafter will also review externally created architectural, foundation, and civil drawings to ensure they are current and accurate before detailing begins. In addition to technical skills, the Drafter will foster a culture of continuous improvement and superior customer service within the department. This includes developing training programs to enhance the skills of associates and maintaining accurate reporting of key deliverables. Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and detailed structural engineering drawings for all projects.
  • Adjust priorities and focus when markups and project changes occur.
  • Prepare and ensure drawings are accurate and economically aligned with company standards while meeting deadlines.
  • Partner with Detailers to ensure deadlines are met and delays are communicated with stakeholders.
  • Communicate with the Engineering Department regarding any changes and resolve drawing issues in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with production to clarify and correct construction issues in the field.
  • Work closely with the Director of Engineering to disseminate information regarding permit and approval drawings.
  • Review externally created architectural, foundation, and civil drawings for accuracy before detailing starts.
  • Maintain accurate reporting and management of all key deliverables.
  • Develop training programs to enhance the skills of associates within the department.

Requirements

  • 4-year college degree in structural engineering, architecture, or building construction.
  • 5 years of experience in a related field.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD.
