About the position

The Construction, Engineering, & Inspection (CEI) Project Administrator / Project Engineer will play a pivotal role in overseeing road and bridge construction projects for various clients, including the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX), Florida's Turnpike Enterprise, and other municipalities in the Greater Orlando Area. This position is critical for ensuring that projects are executed efficiently and in compliance with all relevant standards and regulations. Currently, the role involves working on the FDOT's I-4 Ultimate Public, Private, Partnership (P3) Project, which is a significant undertaking valued at approximately $2.2 billion, making it the largest transportation project in Florida's history. The Project Administrator/Engineer will be responsible for consolidating field data collected by the Inspection Team, making informed recommendations regarding construction issues, and assessing project progress and status. This includes prioritizing inspections based on the current work progress and assisting Senior Project Engineers in evaluating and recommending actions for any non-conforming work identified during inspections. Looking ahead, starting in 2022, this position will be integral to strategizing, marketing, and executing future CEI contracts within the Central Florida area. The successful candidate will be expected to leverage their expertise to enhance the company's presence and performance in upcoming projects, ensuring that all work aligns with the standards set forth by FDOT and other governing bodies.

Responsibilities

  • Consolidate field data obtained through the Inspection Team.
  • Make recommendations regarding construction issues and project progress/status.
  • Prioritize inspections based on work progress.
  • Assist Senior Project Engineers in evaluating and recommending actions for non-conforming work.
  • Strategize and market future CEI contracts with FDOT, CFX, and other municipalities.

Requirements

  • A Civil Engineering Degree plus ten (10) years of engineering experience in construction of major road and bridge structures, OR fifteen (15) years of responsible and related engineering experience in construction of major road and bridge structures for non-degreed personnel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing).
  • Experience in directing complex and specialized construction engineering administration and inspection programs.
  • Ability to plan and organize the work of subordinate and staff members.
  • Experience in developing and reviewing policies, methods, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to review programs for conformance with FDOT standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • FDOT Advanced MOT certification (must obtain prior to start date).
  • Completion of FDOT's Critical Structures Construction Issues Self Study Course (must obtain prior to start date).
  • Attendance and passing of the CTQP Quality Control Manager course (must obtain prior to start date).
