About the position

As a Construction Engineering Inspector at Consulting Services Incorporated, you will be responsible for performing construction testing and inspections on various projects throughout Kentucky, Ohio, and potentially other states. Your role will involve ensuring that contractors' work conforms to the requirements outlined in the contract documents. This includes conducting inspections of construction activities, documenting field testing activities, and reviewing approved plans, specifications, codes, and submittals necessary for performing inspection and testing duties. You will also be tasked with preparing daily field reports and test data forms to document the construction testing activities performed, while maintaining effective communication with project managers, field supervisors, and the owner's representative on a daily basis. Your responsibilities will extend to reviewing civil, architectural, and structural plans and specifications in preparation for field observations. You will document field activities, observations, and testing results on construction projects, ensuring their conformance with project plans and specifications. Field testing will include soil, concrete, aggregate, asphalt, and masonry mortar/grout to ensure compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, DOT, and project specifications. Additionally, you will communicate field and laboratory testing results with Construction Services and Project Management Staff, general contractors, and clients. Calibration of field equipment to industry codes and standards will also be part of your duties, along with reviewing work and projects for technical accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to work in external environment conditions during difficult weather.
  • Ability to provide status updates independently when necessary.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • High School Diploma / GED required.
  • Knowledge or interest in Geology.
