The Construction Engineering Technician position at D.W. Kozera offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about outdoor work and geotechnical engineering. Responsibilities

  • Assist with managing geotechnical projects, design calculations, and recommendations
  • Supervise drilling operations and log soil borings
  • Classify soils and assign lab testing
  • Perform testing of soils, foundations, reinforced and post-tensioned concrete
  • Perform concrete testing
  • Perform deep foundation quality assurance tasks
  • Perform boring layout with conventional GPS equipment
  • Perform floor flatness testing
  • Prepare accurate typed daily field reports including appropriate photographs, sketches, etc.
  • Perform hand augers to obtain subsurface information and soil samples
  • Observe and document various field activities related to the construction process, including foundation installation techniques
  • Read maps and interpret engineering and construction plans
  • Interact and communicate daily with project team members including contractors, technicians, and DWK project managers

Requirements

  • Willingness to work 'in the dirt'
  • Valid United States driver's license and reliable, insured transportation
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs including Excel and Word
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Physically capable of meeting physical demands of walking/climbing on construction sites, moving, handling testing equipment (including lifting up to 50 lbs)

Nice-to-haves

  • Coursework in civil engineering, environmental, agriculture, forestry, geology, or related field
  • ACI Level 1 Certification
  • APNGA Training
