About the position

The Construction Estimator role is an entry-level position focused on quantity estimating for cost estimating purposes. The estimator will be responsible for reading architectural plans, performing on-screen takeoffs, and inputting data into estimating software. This position plays a crucial role in project planning, budgeting, and resource identification, while also requiring effective communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepares work by gathering information and requirements; setting priorities.
• Performs a key role in project planning, budgeting, and identification of resources needed.
• Prepares Quantity Estimates off of Architectural Drawings; proficient plan reading skills are a must.
• Obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials, identifying qualified subcontractors, and negotiating price.
• Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

Requirements

• University degree or college diploma, Construction Degree a plus.
• Effective oral/written communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to analyze information, use documentation, reporting, and estimating skills.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities within established deadlines.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to develop budgets and vendor relationships.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Sage 300 accounting and WinEst estimating software is a plus.
