About the position

The General Estimator position at BELFOR is a critical role within the Estimating track, responsible for creating and managing estimates for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. This position involves direct client interaction, developing competitive estimates using Xactimate software, and overseeing projects from inception to completion. The General Estimator will work closely with large loss insurance adjustors and commercial clients, responding to regional and potentially catastrophic situations, ensuring timely and accurate project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Complete multi-sketches with multi-levels and/or roof sketches accurately.
• Create accurate scopes with minimal over/under estimates.
• Develop accurate floor plans and multi-level/roof sketches using Xactimate Sketch.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable building codes and ensure compliance.
• Create and adhere to budgets, addressing any overages as they arise.
• Utilize BELFOR naming conventions for estimates, proposals, and change orders.
• Maintain a construction schedule and coordinate with trades and management for timely completion.
• Demonstrate proficiency in source removal, decontamination, and mitigation techniques.
• Participate in continued training with BELFOR University for Xactimate certification preparation.
• Independently manage own work and maintain vehicle safety and cleanliness.
• Complete accident, injury, and incident reporting forms in a timely manner.
• Exhibit strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
• Communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.
• Engage in continuing education to ensure compliance with regulations and advance career.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in Construction, Restoration, or Contents Estimating.
• Residential estimating experience exceeding $50,000 and Commercial estimating experience exceeding $100,000.
• Successful completion of BELFOR Estimating Platform Level 2 user certification.
• Completion of Advanced Xactimate training with a score of 90% or higher.
• Experience with national rate and material invoicing.
• Fluency in English and understanding of MSDS Data sheets.
• Extensive customer service experience and advanced Microsoft Office skills.
• Professional demeanor and excellent telephone skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with large loss insurance adjustors and commercial clients.
• Knowledge of local building codes and safety regulations.
