About the position

We are seeking a skilled Construction Estimator to join our team at Watertight Systems. The Construction Estimator will be responsible for analyzing construction blueprints and specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates for various projects. This role requires a deep understanding of construction processes and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including architects, engineers, and subcontractors. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in building construction and a keen eye for detail, ensuring that all estimates are precise and comprehensive. In this position, the Construction Estimator will analyze project drawings and specifications to accurately estimate costs for labor, materials, and equipment. Collaboration with construction teams is essential to understand project requirements and constraints. The estimator will also visit construction sites as needed to assess conditions and gather relevant information that may impact project costs. Developing budgets and proposals in response to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) is a critical aspect of this role, ranging from conceptual projects to more complex undertakings. The Construction Estimator will review and provide feedback on all phases of construction documents to ensure that standards are met during proposal development. Assessing existing conditions of project sites is necessary to identify any potential cost or schedule factors that should be included in the proposal development and clarified. Engaging with architects, designers, engineers, and consultants will help evaluate the design intent of bid documents, ensuring a complete proposal package. The estimator will also receive and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure they align with bid documents and qualify vendor proposals. Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors is crucial for success in this role.

Responsibilities

• Analyze project drawings and specifications to accurately estimate costs for labor, materials, and equipment.
• Collaborate with construction teams to understand project requirements and constraints.

Requirements

• 2 years of experience in construction estimating (Required).
• Strong technical expertise in all aspects of building construction.
• High attention to detail and cost analysis.
• Excellent ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
• Proficiency in computer software related to construction estimating.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and electronic) with clients, company staff, subcontractors, and design professionals.
• Team player with exceptional knowledge of building products, construction details, and relevant regulations and quality standards.
