About the position

We are seeking an ambitious Construction Estimator to manage a wide variety of new civil construction projects within the rapidly growing water and wastewater infrastructure sector in the Pacific Northwest. This position is with a family-owned wholesale distributor of premium water supply equipment and related components, including underground piping, pumps, valves, flanges, meters, actuators, filtration systems, lift stations, water heaters, HVAC systems, and other commercial plumbing and waterworks supplies. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with commercial plumbing supplies or municipal water or wastewater systems, although any commercial or construction estimating experience is welcomed. As a Construction Estimator, you will collaborate with Operations, Contractors, and the Sales team to understand project requirements and specifications. You will review a variety of construction drawings and site plans to complete material take-offs, assemble material lists, and provide price quotations for plumbing supplies for new commercial infrastructure and public water distribution projects. Your role will also involve interpreting and analyzing technical water works data to ensure accurate estimates, utilizing estimation software to prepare detailed estimates with accurate data and updated product pricing to support commercial proposals, and working with vendors to solicit quotes for applicable products. Additionally, you will prepare comprehensive bid packages in response to Requests for Quotations (RFQs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs), assist in developing project timelines and budgets based on customer requirements, and maintain project tracking and reporting requirements to support all stakeholders. Keeping up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and estimating best practices is essential, as is providing technical support and guidance to project teams as needed.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • 3+ years' experience in Estimating, Construction, Commercial Plumbing, Project Management, or Sales of Wholesale Distribution Supplies.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil and mechanical technical documents, construction drawings, and site plans.
  • Knowledge of material take-off methods and processes is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using estimation software and tools; knowledge of PlanSwift is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Understanding of construction industry standards and best practices.
  • Commitment to maintaining high-quality work and continuous improvement.

Nice-to-haves

  • BS/BA in Construction Management, Architecture, or Engineering is a plus, but not required.
