About the position
The Construction Flooring position at Corewell Health involves providing a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment under the guidance of a supervisor or team lead. The role primarily focuses on facilities construction and refresh efforts, which include tasks such as painting, drywall repair, flooring installation, wall protection, and other system finishes. Most of the work is performed collaboratively with a finisher or carpenter, although independent work may also be required. Candidates with healthcare experience are highly recommended due to the nature of the work environment. The average work week is structured from Monday to Friday, but candidates must be flexible and open to scheduled night and weekend work as needed. The position plays a crucial role in the overall building management program, emphasizing high-quality, cost-effective service with a strong focus on customer satisfaction. Essential functions include measuring floor spaces, accurately interpreting detailed plans and specifications, preparing subfloors for floorcovering, and utilizing hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment. The role also involves installing various types of floorcoverings, including seam welding of commercial sheet vinyl, and working with adhesives while removing old flooring. Collaboration is key in this position, as the individual will communicate and coordinate with supervisors, tradesperson leads, and other construction trades and subcontractors to ensure quality and timely construction. The role also includes performing preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, and services on various building features, documenting procedures and work completed, and ensuring the safe use and maintenance of equipment and supplies. The position requires reviewing project blueprints to identify any special needs or revisions and ensuring compliance with legal specifications and organizational policies. Following ICRA/PCRA procedures outlined by Epidemiology is also a critical aspect of the job.
Responsibilities
- Measuring up floor spaces
- Working accurately from detailed plans and specifications
- Preparing the subfloor to receive the floorcovering
- Using hand tools, power tools, and specialist equipment
- Measuring, marking, and cutting floorcoverings
- Installing the final floorcoverings using a wide range of methods including seam welding of commercial sheet vinyl
- Working with adhesives
- Removing old flooring
- Collaborating with other trades on commercial sites, in public spaces, and industrial buildings
- Communicating and collaborating with supervisors, tradesperson leads, and other construction trades and subcontractors
- Performing comprehensive preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, and services on various types of general building features
- Documenting procedures and work completed in an accurate and timely manner
- Ensuring proper care, maintenance, and safe use of equipment and supplies
- Performing work in specific area of specialty, including repair and replacement, layout, demolition, and construction of all types of specialty systems and equipment
- Reviewing project blueprints to identify any special needs, revisions, or problems
- Ensuring that all services are provided in accordance with legal specifications, codes, organizational policy, and compliance requirements
- Planning and coordinating work flow with other trades and acting as a resource related to building systems
- Following ICRA/PCRA procedures outlined by Epidemiology
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of relevant experience
- LIC-Driver's License - STATE_MI State of Michigan
