About the position

As a CBRE Health, Safety and Environment Manager, you will be responsible for creating and implementing health, safety, and environmental programs for construction projects at our client sites. This role is crucial in ensuring that organizational programs and procedures are in place to safeguard employees and surrounding communities. You will work closely with various stakeholders to promote a positive and proactive culture that influences compliance and safety standards across all projects. Your responsibilities will include assisting with the implementation and review of playbooks and procedures, ensuring that Health, Safety, and Environmental initiatives drive program consistency and efficiency. You will manage initiatives to meet regulatory, legal, compliance, and client safety requirements for CBRE, General Contractors, and subcontractors. Additionally, you will track operational and safety risks, develop and manage strategic risk management strategies to avoid potential incidents, and monitor injury, illness, and incident reports to provide recommendations on how to prevent risks. You will interface and support the construction management team at the site by delivering current data on project HSE performance, including trending, incident management, HSE metrics, and other key information that enables project management to make informed and timely decisions. Your role will also involve monitoring Health, Safety, and Environmental regulatory compliance within the project and working with management to create strategic solutions that improve and maintain compliance as required. You will assist in design reviews throughout the project lifecycle, from planning and design to permitting, construction, and handover to operations. Leading by example, you will model behaviors consistent with CBRE's RISE values and influence parties of shared interests to reach agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with implementing and reviewing playbooks and procedures to drive program consistency and efficiency.
  • Manage initiatives to meet regulatory, legal, compliance, and client safety requirements for CBRE, General Contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Track operational and safety risks and develop strategic risk management strategies to avoid potential incidents.
  • Monitor injury, illness, and incident reports and provide recommendations on how to prevent risks.
  • Interface and support the construction management team by delivering current data on project HSE performance.
  • Monitor Health, Safety, and Environmental regulatory compliance within the project and work with management to create strategic solutions for compliance.
  • Communicate findings, concerns, and deficiencies to responsible functional managers, including risk and hazard assessments.
  • Assist in design reviews throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors consistent with CBRE RISE values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 3-5 years of relevant experience; a combination of experience and education will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum five or more years' construction administration, architecture, engineering, or similar experience.
  • Certifications such as CSP, CHST, OHST are preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with construction best practices, general building codes, and various building types and systems.
  • Ability to guide the exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information and handle problems effectively.
  • Leadership skills to motivate team impact on quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the job discipline and department.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
