About the position

Kennedy Jenks Consultants is seeking a Construction Inspector to join our team, focusing on major water-related infrastructure projects in California. This role is essential for providing construction oversight on a variety of public works projects, including water and wastewater treatment facilities, pipelines, pump stations, and reservoirs. The Construction Inspector will be responsible for ensuring that all construction activities comply with contract requirements and applicable permits, thereby playing a crucial role in the successful delivery of these projects. As a Construction Inspector, you will provide daily onsite oversight of contractors and their construction activities under the supervision of the Construction Manager or Resident Engineer. Your responsibilities will include performing necessary inspections to ensure compliance, providing daily written reports detailing activities, labor, and equipment used, and tracking contractor schedule compliance. You will also prepare written communications between the owner and contractor, coordinate meetings with contractors, clients, and staff, and provide quality control inspections of the contractor's work. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety on the job site. You will be expected to travel to various project locations, ensuring that you are present to oversee the construction process and address any issues that may arise promptly. Your expertise will contribute to the successful completion of projects that are vital to the community and the environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily onsite oversight of contractor and its construction activities under supervision of the Construction Manager/ Resident Engineer.
  • Perform necessary inspections to ensure the project is being constructed in compliance with the contract requirements and applicable permits.
  • Provide daily written reports detailing daily activities, labor and equipment.
  • Track contractor schedule compliance.
  • Prepare written communication between owner and contractor.
  • Coordinate meetings with contractors, clients, and staff.
  • Provide quality control inspection of contractor's work.

Requirements

  • 3+ years' experience with all facets of construction including civil, mechanical and electrical installations.
  • Experience with sewer rehabilitation, municipal projects, water and wastewater pipelines, agriculture pump stations, and/or water or wastewater treatment plants, for both new construction and rehabilitation, is strongly preferred.
  • Certifications for specialty inspections of steel, concrete, welding, coatings, and other aspects of infrastructure projects is a plus.
