About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two or more years of construction experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to effectively communicate technical information, both orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of building and construction principles.
• Skill in operating assigned tools and equipment.
• Ability to perform mathematical computations.
• Skill in reading and interpreting construction drawings, plans, and specifications.

Nice To Haves

• Certified as a Certified Stormwater Inspector or ability to obtain within six months from the date of hire.
• Class C Water Operations License and Class II Sanitary Sewer Operators License from the TCEQ within eighteen months from the date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction material measurement and quality testing for Public Works infrastructure projects.
• Coordinate activities with the City Engineer, Chief Construction Inspector, and other construction inspectors.
• Ensure public and private infrastructures are constructed according to released construction plans and development guidelines.
• Monitor work within public rights-of-way and easements to protect municipal franchise utility assets.
• Compile and maintain project inspection records, including test results and inspection logs.
• Responsible for the security and maintenance of all assigned equipment, including City-owned vehicles.
• Adhere to assigned work schedule and comply with City attendance policies and regulations.
