About the position

The Excavation Foreman at Luciano's Excavation Inc. is responsible for leading and overseeing excavation operations on job sites. This role is critical for ensuring the efficient and safe execution of projects while adhering to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. The foreman will manage a team of excavation personnel, coordinate equipment usage, and enforce safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective leadership to the excavation crew, including equipment operators, laborers, and subcontractors.
• Supervise daily activities, delegate tasks, and ensure the team follows established safety protocols and procedures.
• Collaborate with project managers to review project plans, schedules, and specifications.
• Develop detailed work plans, allocate resources, and assign tasks to ensure efficient execution of excavation activities.
• Coordinate equipment mobilization, maintenance, and utilization.
• Monitor equipment performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with preventive maintenance schedules.
• Enforce strict adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
• Conduct regular safety meetings, conduct safety audits, and promote a culture of safety awareness among the excavation team.
• Oversee excavation activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
• Conduct inspections and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Monitor and manage labor, equipment, and materials to optimize efficiency and productivity.
• Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely availability of required resources.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of daily activities, work progress, equipment usage, and other relevant project information.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience preferred
• Understanding of grades and how to use a laser
• Understanding of underground utilities (water, gas, sewer)
• Basic understanding of GPS systems (Topcon)
• Proven experience as an excavation foreman or similar role within the construction industry
• Strong knowledge of excavation techniques, equipment operation, and safety protocols
• Excellent leadership and team management skills
• Ability to read and interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications
• OSHA certification and other relevant safety certifications preferred
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Stamina to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
• Comfortable working around heavy machinery and in potentially hazardous environments.
