About The Position
The Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs (ODVA) is seeking a full-time Construction/Maintenance Technician for a State Veterans Home located in Claremore, OK. This position is essential for the upkeep and maintenance of the facility, ensuring that all buildings and grounds are in optimal condition for the residents and staff. The role involves a variety of responsibilities related to the construction, maintenance, repair, and general upkeep of state property, which may include assisting in the construction or renovation of buildings, as well as performing general maintenance tasks across various systems such as plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and electrical systems. The technician will be responsible for performing carpentry work, which includes constructing or renovating buildings, erecting scaffolds, and maintaining various structures. This role also requires the installation and repair of plumbing fixtures, light fixtures, and electrical systems, as well as troubleshooting and making minor repairs to heating and air-conditioning equipment. The technician will also be tasked with maintaining security devices and constructing concrete foundations and other structures. In addition to technical skills, the position requires the ability to operate and maintain various types of construction and maintenance equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of safety precautions and the ability to follow both written and oral instructions.
